In accordance with guidelines provided by the Government of the SR of Vietnam in response to the threat of the Coronavirus (2019-nCov) epidemic, the International University requires all personnel and students to:

1. Wear protective face mask at all time while present the IU. Those without a face mask will be denied entry. Free masks are available from our security guards at the ground floor.

How to wear a face mask correctly:

2. We advise all to use the staircases if possible, avoid crowding up in front of the elevators.

3. Wash hands regularly with 90degrees alcohol, soap, or disinfectant solutions available on the ground floor at the A1, A2 and canteen buildings

4. Those with any respiratory symptoms, including cough, sneeze or short of breaths, must contact the medical staff at the clinic for further guidance.

Ernst Mach-Grants (EMG) – ASEA-UNINET

ASEA-UNINET supports the exchange of knowledge between partner universities in the member countries in Europe and South-East Asia. The main activity of the network is the organization and financial support of the exchange of scientists and postgraduates and the transfer of knowledge associated with this.The funding is organized by the OeAD-GmbH/ICM in cooperation with ASEA-UNINET (on behalf of and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research – BMBWF).

Applications are open to postgraduates who have obtained a master degree (including master thesis) or a doctoral degree (or equivalent degree) in various fields (including e.g. Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, Human Medicine, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts) as well as to graduates in the field of music (only).

There are four types of grants:

  • Post-doc Grants (research grants)
    Duration: max. 1-9 months (new!)
    Grant benefit: 1,150 euro
  • PhD-Grants
    Grant for a complete PhD programme in Austria
    Duration: max. 36 months
    Grant benefit: 1,050 euros
  • Sandwich-Grants
    Grant for a partial study period during a PhD programme in Austria
    Duration: 9 months
    Grant benefit: 1,050 euros
  • Music-Grants
    Duration: max. 9 months
    Grant benefit: 1,050 euros

Additionally, scholarship holders receive a travel cost subsidy of max. 1,000 euros.

Maximum age:

  • Graduates and postgraduates: 35 years
  • Post docs: 45 years

Language proficiency:

Very good knowledge of English and/or German

Presentation on UPSHIFT Season 5 – Topic: Actions for the Environment

On the 11th of September, 2019, the International University will host the presentation on UPSHIFT Season 5 – Topic: Actions for the Environment, organized by UNICEF and SIHUB (of the Department of Science and Technology).

The UPSHIFT programme prepares young people from vulnerable communities to identify, analyze, and take entrepreneurial action against community challenges they care about—helping participants realize their role as agents of social change, and building their professional readiness and resilience along the way. Mission Statement

Empower marginalized young people to realize their role as agents of social change as they identify and analyze challenges in their communities and to take entrepreneurial action to develop and lead solutions.

Target Group

UPSHIFT targets young people from the most vulnerable communities. The proposed target group includes young people ages 15-24, with a special emphasis on out of school adolescents and youth, refugee adolescents and youth, adolescents and youth living in poverty, adolescent girls and young women with reduced mobility, and other marginalized groups.
