COVID 19: BACKGROUND DISEASES AND DIET
Hello everyone, I am a senior student of Applied Chemistry. I had graduated, so now I have a lot of free time, so I often recall the time when I was at school. The Covid 19 epidermic has been seriously, so lately I have read literatures about ways to protect my health, I often pull out the lessons I’ve studied at the University to review because I find it very applicable! Of course, the subject I study is called “Applied”, isn’t it.
The corona virus penetrates the upper-lower respiratory system and can lead to lung infections and chronic obstructive pulmonary since COVID-19 is a severe danger to people’s health with background diseases, which means that anyone who has one of the background diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, blood fat, obesity… will be infected seriously with the SARS-CoV-2 virus with the quick progression.
According to my study, diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, blood lipids, etc, that called non-communicable diseases, people who have these diseases will lead to metabolic disorder in the body, so describes a weak immune system thereby it is difficult to fight with corona virus.
So most importantly, “prevention is better than cure” is what I am warning. Let’s protect ourselves and our families with a healthy diet to avoid the metabolic disorder diseases that mainly caused by the diet.
Fortunately, how to adjust the diet so that it is healthy as well as how to use the diet to support the treatment of metabolic disorders has been taught very well by Dr. Son and MSc. Tram, both in theory and in practice. Now I can apply it fluently to make menus for the whole family.
In the program, I study 3 subjects about Nutrition: Nutritional Biochemistry, Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Therapy. If you choose to study these subjects, you will learn the following topics:
Metabolism of nutrients in the body
+ Abnormal clinical signs
+ How to measure blood pressure, blood sugar, read test results
+ How to assess the nutritional status of patients according to international standards
+ Provide menus to support the treatment of non-communicable diseases
In my opinion, these courses are very useful because you can use this knowledge to apply to your family, or working in the hospital without having training, because of the experienced teacher in my school.
