Mr. Pham Quoc Dinh, PhD candidate of School of Biotechnology was awarded a full scholarship by the Japanese International Program Association
Ph.D. candidate Pham Quoc Dinh is a K13 student of the School of Biotechnology in biotechnology major. Mr. Pham Quoc Dinh graduated BSc. in 2018 with excellent results. After that, Mr. Dinh continued his master’s degree at Cell Reprogramming Lab with the research topic ” Improvement of in vitro development and pregnancy rate of cloned bovine embryo by synergistic treatment of histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi)”. Mr. Pham Quoc Dinh has successfully graduated MSc. in 2022 with an excellent score of 96.7/100. Then, MSc. Pham Quoc Dinh continued to take the Ph.D. entrance exam in the field of Biotechnology under the supervisor Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Van Thuan with an interesting research topic “Application of new gene transfer technology by CRIPR-Cas9 gene editing method combined with somatic cell nuclear transfer technology to create transgenic cloned cows for production of human recombinant proteins”.
MSc. Phạm Quốc Định passed Ph.D. NCS entrance exam with a high score of over 95 points, with the introduction and patronage of Assoc/Prof. Nguyen Van Thuan, MSc. Pham Quoc Dinh has applied for IPA scholarship through the cooperation between RIKEN Institute, Japan and Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Van Thuan. The scholarship includes accommodation and travel expenses during the research period at the RIKEN Institute, which is over USD 75,000 (about VND 1.8 billion). With selectivity rate above 1/500 with excellent candidates in the world. Today officially MS. Pham Quoc Dinh has been informed by RIKEN that he has been selected and awarded a scholarship by the Japanese IPA. More importantly, Mr. Pham Quoc Dinh will have time to work in the laboratory of Prof. Ogura, Laboratory that has more than 5 scientific papers published in Nature and Science.
This is a model studying Ph.D. at IU and receiving financial support from Japan as well as accessing new technologies from the world’s scientists at RIKEN Institute. Congratulations to Mr. Pham Quoc Dinh. The International University will soon sign a MOU with RIKEN Institute to develop this Ph.D. training model to train talents for the country right in Vietnam.
